a piece of glass to catch the sun

I bought some glass to catch the sun
All wrapped in plain white paper
I brought it home and set it up
between a plant and taper
I went to sleep where dreams of light
and colored glass did caper
But when I woke, I rose to find
my vision but a vapor.
The sun was laughing far behind
a cloud that stretched an acre.
Savor your glee, my pane will shine
I tell the sun with candor.
